My doctoral major document (dissertation) from 2006: François Chancy's Tablature de Mandore
It is a study of Chancy's book of mandore music (1629), including transcriptions into modern standard notation of each piece and a facsimilie of the original.
Tablature de Mandore contains the first known Baroque suites to exhibit the allemande-courante-sarabande nucleus - a feature which became commonplace.

In this video, I demonstrate that the intro to Metallica's "The Shortest Straw" is played in strict time with the beat falling on the 2nd note of the riff.
This is contrary to how it is commonly perceived, and also to the published transcription by Cherry Lane Music.
A PDF of my guitar transcription as seen in the video can be downloaded here.
